ew cameo.jpgDid anyone here want to know in advance when I’d be giving a major talk or workshop somewhere?

I’ve always thought of myself as a very minor player in the Quaker world. But recent conversations with Friends around the U.S. have forced me to realize that some people do, in fact, want to know when I’ll be presenting something, and where.

So for those who are curious —

I’m scheduled to be one of the major presenters at my yearly meeting, Iowa (Conservative), a little less than four weeks from now — Thursday, July 26.

This yearly meeting gathers at Scattergood Friends School in West Branch, Iowa, just east of Iowa City.

I’ll be in the catbird seat at 2 p.m. that day, talking with anyone who shows up about the logistics of my journey last summer from Omaha, Nebraska, to Harrisonburg, Virginia.

And I’ll be addressing the whole yearly meeting that evening, giving an accounting of the spiritual aspects of that same journey, and of the talk I gave to Baltimore Yearly Meeting when I arrived in Harrisonburg.

“Accounting” is the word that I myself chose for what I’ll be doing that evening. My focus will be on making myself totally accountable to the community that did so much to make the journey possible. I will lay my whole experience open, and bare.

Further information on this event is available at the Iowa Yearly Meeting (Conservative) web site. Registration forms for the yearly meeting are available there, too. The deadline for registration is July 17.
